MATCHUPS

Plot twist: No Tribute is starting at the Cornucopia this year! Instead, you have been placed in small groups of 6 at alternate corners of the map. Tributes will find themselves on South, North, East, or Volcano island, with a small stash of essentials (mostly weapons) in the middle of their small circle. The actual Cornucopia, stocked full of goodies, resides in the central island, and you will have to make the journey there if you want the things it contains - if you can find it, and make the journey.
Characters were randomized into matchups and randomized onto different islands on the map, and weapon sets for each island were randomized as well.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, LET THE FIRST QUARTER QUELL BEGIN!

The day following the interviews, the Tributes are to be transported to the Arena. The escorts and mentors bid farewell to their Tributes, and they are escorted by hovercraft early in the morning to the Arena, where they have a few minutes to spend with their stylists before launch.

Every Tribute wears the same standard-issue clothing, depicted here:

Once up and out of the tubes, the time counts down from 60. Don't step off early unless you want to die; one minute to decide what you'd like to do. You might be shocked to find you have only 6 people standing in a circle with you, and there is no Cornucopia between you all, just a pile of weapons and basic supplies in the centre. You may choose to grab something, or try to run, but you must fight.

Maps:

(Since there are only 6 Tributes at every starting position, I find a map of the starting position arrangement to be a little unnecessary. You can assume the tributes are arranged in any random order!)

North Island Start Point: Just inside the jungle, not far from the beach, in a clearing. (10m sprint to center stash)
South Island Start Point: A clearing in the jungle on the middle of the island.  (20m sprint to center stash)
East Island Start Point: A clearing in the thin jungle in the middle of the island. (8m sprint to center stash)
Volcano Island Start Point: A clearing in the northern jungle part of the island, sparse, volcano towering over. (10m sprint to center stash)

    HOW YOU OBTAIN THE MATERIALS:

Obviously, you can't take everything from the stash or take everything needed for survival. Be realistic in determining what your character can take, if they should even take anything at all. This doesn't mean you can only pick one thing to take, but remember that your character has just a few short seconds to prioritize and should only take what they can feasibly carry!

For example, if your character is good at throwing knives but does not want to engage in combat or would not be able to beat out the people competing for the knives, maybe it'd be better not to go for it. Keep in mind your character's predetermined abilities and strengths. If you godmod in your entry and have your character pick up many weapons and supplies without somehow getting hurt, you will not get those weapons - we will remove them from your character before Round 2 - and if the godmodding is bad enough, your character will be eliminated.

If more than one people take the same item in their entries, or something happens like eight people taking the spears of which there are only 5, then who actually gets the item will be determined by coin toss. Say if both Character A and Character B wanted the axe and wrote entries about themselves grabbing the axe, we would later toss a coin to determine who got the axe. If 7 people wanted backpacks and made entries about taking these packs, 5 names would be randomly drawn for the pool of seven to be recipients of the packs. At the end of this round, and every round after, there will be a 'Plot Summary' posted detailing the canon of the events and what actually happened, and you are bound to abide by this canon. So if you want your character to take the throwing knives, but lose the draw, you will have to amend your storyline to say that your character tried to take them and failed; you can't go on to have your character still in possession of the knives in Round 2.

You will know what you managed to get post-round!

So basically; go for anything you want. Go for what you think could be useful - try to be creative and think a little bit more about what your character could make use of. They don't always necessarily need to take the weapons they trained with from the Cornucopia right at the beginning. Remember, Katniss did not manage to secure the bow right away; if there's something you want but can't realistically reach, it may fall into your hands later. Some weapons might be discarded or overlooked or left behind, and you may be able to return to the Cornucopia at a later point in the game to look for them.

You can start your entry anywhere after the Interviews and end it with your character taking some items, defeating their opponent, and getting away. Everyone will sooner or later have to move away to find some water or sustenance after grabbing supplies, since there is no food or ready water at the start sites.

:bulletred:IMPORTANT EDIT:bulletred: PLEASE WRITE A LIST OF WHAT YOU TOOK FROM THE CORNUCOPIA IN THE DESCRIPTION OF YOUR ENTRY SO WE CLEARLY KNOW WHAT YOU TOOK WITHOUT HAVING TO SEARCH YOUR STORY FOR IT AND POSSIBLY MAKE MISTAKES.

    JUDGING CRITERIA:

Be realistic: Still one of our most important categories. Don't overpower your character or overestimate their strength/abilities. If you have so far played your character as someone who is frail and unwilling to kill, don't make them snap and randomly gore five people. Character development is important; being realistic to the environment and your own established oc. There are guidelines available everywhere for what the arena and starting area are look like, and attention to detail is important. The mods are always on hand to listen to questions too.

Be creative: Show us some cool moves! The Games have just begun. Everyone is watching. Our judges will delight in reviewing entries that are engaging and show your character's skill to it's full potential - whether that means fighting or showing what a smart cookie they are by grabbing a small item and running the hell away.

Character Development: This should just be another consistent, logical development from your previous entries.

Appeal: Though it counts in less ways, presentation/effort is still a factor. Edit out your typos and try and format images into a comfortably viewable size.

:bulletred: ENTRIES ARE DUE FRIDAY, APRIL 18th, 2014 :bulletredL

If you do not submit an entry for this round without a request for a reasonable extension well in advance, your character will be killed.
There is even extra time for this round, because we know many people have final exams coming up very soon, and we threw a lot of curveballs at you that need figuring out!

OMG, I am so late to this, but NOOOOOO. T-T I don't like the look of some of these matchups AT ALL.
